NBC4i: Chasing Ice Documentary On Tour

COLUMBUS, Ohio -Jeff Orlowski, director and producer of the award-winning documentary “Chasing Ice” that premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, is hoping that photographic evidence will convince more people to pay closer to attention to global climate change.The movie makers are visiting Central Ohio schools, offering free screenings, followed by question-and answer sessions about the impact of ice melt on climate and rising sea levels.

The Lakewood Observer: Free Film Screening, “Chasing Ice,” Hosted By Councilman Bullock On April 29

“We’re a week late, but it’s ‘Earth Day’ all month in Lakewood,” joked Councilman Bullock. “We’re lucky that the “Chasing Ice” film happens to be touring central Ohio right now and the film director agreed to share a copy for screening in Lakewood. I’ve seen it once and the photography is stunning, on top of the important conservation message the film delivers.”

The Travel Chica: Chasing Ice

Tackling a problem that involves and affects the entire world seems impossible.  But the Chasing Ice Team is tackling it, and they are trying a new approach.  They believe the only way to make progress with climate change is to get our political leaders to understand the science.

With the launch of The Chasing Ice Ohio Tour 2014, they are focusing on supporting one Congressman Pat Tiberi by providing the visual evidence of climate change and showing him that his constituents support doing something about it.  They are using social media to share the message.

The Examiner: ‘Chasing Ice’ team chases Ohio Congressman Pat Tiberi on climate change

Now having already hosted hundreds of screenings around the world, CIT believes the best way to make progress with climate change is to educate and inform political leaders on the established science that’s nearly unanimously accepted by the world-wide scientific community.

Orlowski and his team understand that elected officials know ice is melting, so their goal now is to focus their attention on the science behind it. Unlike campaigns that might try to convince everyone all at once, CIT says the focus this time is to “support one Congressman at a time by providing them with both the visual evidence and the support they need from their constituents.”
